Chapters Two and Three

Respond to the following questions:
1. Why doesn't Ponyboy like referring to Soda as a dropout?
2. What literary devise is used to describe Johnny's mugging in chapter 2?
3. Through Cherry, the reader gains better insight into the Soc lifestyle and mentality. Having learned this, what is the difference between a Soc and a Greaser?
4. What does Ponyboy mean on page 39 when he says, "Johnny and I understood each other without saying anything"? Have you ever had a relationship with someone who you understood, or who understood you, without having to say anything?
5. Why does Johnny like it better when his father is hitting him? What does this suggest about his feelings toward Pony?

1.Soad doesn't like referring to soad as a dropout because they are brothers.
2.The literary devise that is used to describ Johnny's mugging in ch 2 is a flashback. .
3.A soc is rick and greasers are pore.
4.Ponyboy means that people can no you better than you know your slef.
5.Johnny likes it better when his father is hiting him becuase he said that he can take he's father hiting him then anyone else.

1.It makes him feel stupid for having soda as a brother

The mugging completely change Johnny first of all he carry a 6 inch blade in his back pocket and killed someone.3 The difference between soc and greasers is simply emotional and the soc’s are not emotional. 4 yeah my homeboy day day we knew each other for 4 years and i sleped at his house he at mine.He ate my food and i ate his he was truely my best friend.5 I dont truely know why he thinks that when i do i'll tell you.

3. socs are rich but half to act cool to be coolwhile greasers are poor and rough with a bad homelife.

1. Ponyboy doesn't like referring Sodapop as a dropout because thats his brother and why be a gruge holder. And Sodapop is very understandind towards Ponybboy.
2. The literary devise is that going back to tell the story it was real. Telling it to Cherry it was very deeply complicated
3. A soc was a rich very threatening, and the greasers were tough hardcore not afraid. Trying to make it out.
4. He meant that he never understood anybody like Cherry to understand him the way she. And he only understood Sodapop.
5. It was better getting beat by his father than getting jumped by the Socs evreyday.

3.through cherry the readers gains a better insight on the difference between the socs and the greasers and the difference bettween them is the socs are fake.
4.When Ponyboy says that him and johnny can understand eachother without sayin anything he means that they know eachother very well, and they can relate to eachother.
5.When johnny says that he likes it better when his father hits him he says that to make Ponyboy feel better.
